About the Photographer

Alex Reulbach currently lives in Seattle, Washington with his girlfriend Naomi and puppy Kirby. He works as an Emergency Department Technician at the Overlake Medical Center and is a member of the Northwest Dive Club.

He is a PADI Divemaster and underwater photographer with a passion for capturing and sharing the phenomenal beauty of the underwater world. An avid scuba diver since the age of 12, he earned his PADI Divemaster certification while working at Scuba Life Cozumel as a dive guide on the small island of Cozumel, Mexico. While studying biology, chemistry, and marine science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, he joined the Marine Ecology and Conservation lab to study Acropora coral restoration in the Caribbean and support various marine research expeditions in the Galápagos. He was selected by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to receive the Ernest F. Hollings Scholarship and studied the foraging ecology of common dolphins (Delphinus delphis) in the Northwest Atlantic at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution and NOAA Northeast Fisheries Science Center.

Wanting to share his passion for marine life and scuba diving with others, he realized his photography could be an influential tool for marine conservation. He believes that after people witness the many strange and beautiful creatures of the underwater world, either in person or through photography, they strive harder to protect our ocean ecosystems and the communities that rely on them.
